Performance Engineer

Detroit Stoker Company is seeking a full time Performance Engineer. This individual will complete in house work assignments as well as travel to customer sites to provide technical assistance. Qualified candidates will be able to conduct onsite evaluations of existing equipment to document current performance, recommended modifications and predict future performance for projects, including combustion-related emissions reductions, design fuel changes or boiler component modifications. Additionally perform boiler assessments including reviewing/calculating superheater, generating bank,economizer, and air heater performance including heat transfer, temperatures, draft losses, pressures, fouling, and sustainability.  Must be able to exercise functional authority as a project engineer for the completion of solid, liquid, and gaseous combustion equipment related projects. Will also be responsible for assisting the sales process by establishing a technical base for project applications.

This individual will have comprehensive knowledge of industrial boiler design, performance, operation and maintenance.  Should be able to interpret and apply ASME, BPVC & B31.1 codes. Also prefer a working knowledge of boiler distribution control systems and burner management systems operations, including reviewing SAMA, electrical, and P&ID drawings.

The ideal candidate will be able to make sound decisions of a highly technical nature, prioritize and meet deadlines and hold a Professional Engineering certification. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and have a minimum of 10 years in industrial equipment design or combustion related experience. Must have a valid driver’s license,  passport and flexibility for travel up to 50% (Domestic and International). Qualified candidates will be proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook and have strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to give public speaking presentations.
