In today's global economy, many types of combustible solid wastes are valuable energy resources that our equipment allows you to burn separately or in conjunction with other fuels. This versatility provides cost-effective options to meet energy requirements.
Well over 500,000 tons (454,000 MT) of biomass and other refuse are burned daily on Detroit stokers, most of which utilize automatic ash discharge spreader stoker technology. Current design capacities are capable of producing in excess of 100MWe.
Environmental Solutions:
Recycling and reduction of our world's waste stream is not only environmentally necessary, but also makes good business sense. Many industrial processes produce solid wastes of a high heating value, ideally suited for energy recovery. With today's high cost of conventional fuels and emphasis on conservation, extraction of useful energy from otherwise non-recyclable materials represents recycling at its very finest.
Many types of biomass and combustible solid waste can be profitably used as fuel. These include bark, wood waste, shavings, sawdust and agricultural wastes such as sugar cane residue (bagasse), coffee refuse, sunflower shells and even poultry litter. These wastes produce insignificant levels of acid gas when compared to the fossil fuels they replace and are considers CO2 neutral since the carbon dioxide produced is used in the growth cycle of renewable fuel sources. Furthermore, reduction in volume of these wastes minimizes landfill requirements and related disposal costs.
