Plant: 4 Ton Batch

Dryer: Approximately 8’Dia. x 30’Long

Fuel(s): Compressed Natural Gas (Primary), No. 2 Fuel Oil (Secondary)

Prior Burner: Hauck StarJet 580 w/ 100Hp TurboBlower (Open-Fired)

New DSC Burner: HADES-100 Sealed-In Burner w/ 60Hp Fan w/ Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Control

New Controls: Parallel Position (Air VFD, Natural Gas Direct Coupled Actuator w/ High Precision Butterfly Control Valve; No. 2 Fuel Oil with Direct Coupled Actuator w/ High Precision V-Ball Flow Control Valve)

Results:

  • Noise Reduction: Sound Levels Less than Half of the Open Fired Burner.
  • Natural Gas Fired CO emissions < 100ppm @7%O2 Dry)
  • Natural Gas Fired NOx emissions < 75ppm @7%O2 Dry)

Fuel(s): Recycled Fuel Oil (RFO, Primary), No. 2 Fuel Oil (Secondary)

Prior Burner: Cedarapids (Open-Fired) w/ 100Hp fan

New DSC Burner: HADES-125 Long Nose Sealed-In Burner w/ 75Hp Fan w/ Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Control

New Controls: Parallel Position (Air VFD, RFO & No. 2 Fuel Oil with Direct Coupled Actuator w/ High Precision V-Ball Flow Control Valve and Flow Metering).

Results:

  • Noise Reduction: Sound Levels Less than Half of the Open Fired Burner.
  • RFO Fired CO emissions < 250ppm @7%O2 Dry)
  • RFO Fired NOx emissions < 135ppm @7%O2 Dry)

Existing Burner: Hauck EcoStar-100

Prior Controls: Hauck BCS5000

New Controls: Detroit HBC-1000 w/ Parallel Position (Air Damper/Actuator, RFO & No. 2 Fuel Oil with Direct Coupled Actuators).

Results:

  • New PLC/HMI with Touchscreen Controls Interface (Readily Available Spare / Replacement Parts)
  • Upgrades to Plant Safeties for Latest NFPA86 Code Requirements
  • First-Out Annunciation for all Plant Safeties and Burner Interlock Indication
  • More precise Air/Fuel Ratio Control Optimizes Burner Fuel Efficiency
