Detroit Stoker Company is proud to participate in the 2026 Louisiana Division Meeting of the American Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (ASSCT), an important regional gathering for professionals across the sugarcane industry.
The Louisiana Division of the ASSCT frequently hosts its primary meetings in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a central hub for sugarcane research, processing, and innovation. This year’s meeting will be held February 2–4, 2026, at the L’Auberge Casino & Hotel, where Detroit Stoker Company will be at Booth #18, showcasing our solutions for reliable combustion and material handling in sugar and biomass operations.
The Louisiana Division Meeting provides a platform for researchers from respected institutions such as the LSU AgCenter Audubon Sugar Institute to present the latest findings. Topics include sugarcane breeding improvements, processing efficiencies, and economic trends impacting the sugar industry. These insights drive innovation and support sustainable operations throughout the region.
Detroit Stoker Company values these opportunities to stay closely connected to the evolving needs of sugar producers and processors. Attending the ASSCT Louisiana Division Meeting allows us to engage directly with industry experts, learn from ongoing research, and share our experience supporting efficient and reliable solutions in the field.
Beyond research and industry collaboration, the ASSCT is deeply committed to education. The society sponsors the ASSCT Undergraduate Sugar Processing Scholarship for students at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge. This initiative helps support students pursuing careers in sugar processing and related fields, strengthening the future workforce of the industry.
Detroit Stoker Company applauds these efforts and recognizes the importance of investing in education to ensure long-term innovation and operational excellence across the sugar sector.
We look forward to connecting with colleagues, researchers, and partners during the 2026 Louisiana Division Meeting. As a by-product of sugarcane processing, bagasse (also called cane refuse) is an important fuel source in many sugar mills. Detroit Stoker Company is proud to showcase our Detroit® Bagasse Triple Drum Feeder, designed to supply bagasse to the spout at a closely controlled and uniform rate.
The three-drum arrangement—two similarly-sized drums controlling the feed rate and a larger drum for even dispersion—ensures precise feeding under a wide range of operating loads. Ideal for mills where bagasse is the primary fuel or where secondary fuels such as wood or similar refuse are used, the feeder offers versatile operation, rugged construction, and easy maintenance.
